The consolidation of the North American industrial packaging sector continues its steady march. UFP Industries has announced the acquisition of the operating assets and real estate of Apache Products, doing business as Acme Skid, for approximately $27 million. The transaction, expected to close around November 16, 2026, directly reinforces UFP Packaging's footprint in one of the most demanding logistics corridors in the United States: the Gulf Coast.

Located in Silsbee, Texas, Apache Products specializes in the design and manufacture of stringer and heat-treated wooden pallets. The integration of this facility into UFP's PalletOne network brings an immediate operational boost, adding 165 employees and generating approximately $55 million in annual sales.

Strategic positioning in the petrochemical corridor

For UFP Industries, this is not merely a capacity play; it is a targeted geographic expansion. The Gulf Coast represents a critical hub for the industrial and petrochemical markets, sectors that require high volumes of standardized, heat-treated pallets for safe and compliant material handling. By absorbing an established local manufacturer, UFP secures direct access to this heavy-industry customer base without the lead times associated with greenfield facility development.

This move aligns with the aggressive expansion strategy of UFP Packaging's PalletOne division. Since acquiring PalletOne in 2020, UFP has systematically transformed it into a coast-to-coast supplier. The Apache Products deal follows a similar playbook to the company's acquisition of Minnesota-based Berry Pallets earlier in 2026 for $20 million, demonstrating a clear mandate to buy regional market share and integrate it into a national supply chain.

The addition of heat-treated pallet capabilities in Texas also ensures compliance with international shipping standards, a non-negotiable requirement for the export-heavy petrochemical producers operating in the Gulf. As supply chains prioritize resilience and localized sourcing, UFP Industries is positioning its PalletOne network to capture the high-volume, heavy-duty packaging demands of the southern United States.
