Robatech absorbs Swiss specialist balti to scale custom hot-melt engineering
Swiss adhesive systems manufacturer Robatech has acquired balti AG to strengthen its portfolio of customized hot-melt engineering and turnkey solutions.
Strategic consolidation in Swiss adhesive engineering
The integration of specialized engineering firms into larger equipment manufacturers continues to shape the packaging and converting supply chain. Effective September 30, 2026, Muri-based Robatech AG has acquired all shares in balti AG, a Baar-headquartered specialist in customized hot-melt adhesive application systems. The financial terms of the transaction remain undisclosed, but the industrial logic is clear: bridging the gap between standardized application equipment and highly bespoke, turnkey process engineering.
Founded in 1985, balti has built a solid reputation in the development and installation of complex hot-melt systems, including coating, laminating, and robotic application cells. Under the new structure, balti will continue to operate as an independent entity within the Robatech Group, branded as "balti — part of Robatech". Rebekka Reichmuth takes over the operational leadership from former owner and managing director Urs Sachs, while Robatech CEO Yves Ottiger oversees the broader integration strategy. Crucially for the local workforce, Robatech has confirmed that no job cuts or structural downsizing are planned.
Automation and custom turnkey solutions
For the packaging and corrugated board sectors, adhesive application is no longer just about melting and pumping glue. Modern converting lines require precise, automated integration, often involving 3-axis or 6-axis robotics and complex substrate handling. Robatech has traditionally dominated the market for standardized, modular adhesive systems and cold glue applications. By bringing balti into the fold, the company secures in-house expertise for projects that demand unconventional, fully integrated production cells.
This acquisition reflects a broader trend among packaging machinery suppliers: the shift from selling isolated components to delivering comprehensive process solutions. As converters face increasing pressure to automate end-of-line packaging and complex folding carton operations, the combined capabilities of Robatech's standardized Fieldbus-ready systems and balti's custom engineering will likely provide a more streamlined procurement channel for packaging manufacturers seeking turnkey automation.
