BCI scales Houston logistics with 60,000-square-foot contract packaging hub
Buckeye Corrugated Inc. has opened a dedicated 60,000-square-foot contract packaging and fulfillment center near the Port of Houston to scale its assembly operations.
Strategic expansion near the Port of Houston
Buckeye Corrugated, Inc. (BCI) has officially expanded its footprint in Texas, opening a dedicated 60,000-square-foot contract packaging and fulfillment facility in Houston. Positioned strategically near the Port of Houston and major distribution networks, the new site marks a significant operational shift for the company. Previously, BCI managed these services within its existing Houston corrugated division. By spinning off assembly, kitting, labeling, and fulfillment into a standalone hub, the company is directly addressing the growing industrial and retail demand for integrated supply chain solutions.
Decoupling manufacturing from fulfillment
Jess Stitzel, General Manager of BCI Houston, noted that the dedicated space provides the necessary resources to handle complex, high-volume programs. The move reflects a broader industry trend where corrugated manufacturers are moving beyond simple box production to offer turnkey logistics and retail display assembly. By decoupling fulfillment from primary manufacturing, BCI frees up floor space at its main plant while offering faster turnaround times for shipping-ready preparation across the food, beverage, and retail markets. This physical expansion solidifies BCI's capacity to manage end-to-end packaging requirements without bottlenecking its core corrugated board production.
