Videojet introduces 8530 and Wolke m620 touch printers for 600 dpi packaging coding
Videojet Technologies has launched the 8530 and Wolke m620 touch thermal inkjet printers, delivering 600 dpi coding for primary and secondary packaging.
The demand for granular traceability in packaging continues to push coding technology toward higher resolutions and tighter integration. On October 22, 2026, Videojet Technologies introduced the Videojet 8530 and Wolke m620 touch thermal inkjet (TIJ) printers, targeting primary and secondary packaging lines that require high-speed, high-resolution variable data.
These new systems are engineered to print at resolutions up to 600 x 600 dpi, a critical threshold for the legibility of complex 2D codes such as QR and DataMatrix, alongside standard lot numbers and expiration dates. The equipment is designed to handle a variety of substrates common in the converting and packaging sectors, including cardboard, paperboard, plastics, and metal.
For the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and food and beverage industries, where serialization and compliance are non-negotiable, the reliability of the print is as important as the speed of the line. The Wolke m620 touch and Videojet 8530 utilize fast-drying inks to prevent smudging during high-speed operations. Furthermore, the integration of the SIMPLICiTY user interface incorporates Code Assurance features. This software layer applies built-in rules and validation controls directly at the operator level, significantly reducing the margin for human error during product changeovers.
Debuted earlier this fall at PACK EXPO International 2026, these TIJ printers reflect a broader industry shift. Packaging converters and brand owners are increasingly moving away from basic alphanumeric stamping toward dynamic, high-density data carriers that support both supply chain tracking and consumer engagement. By securing consistent 600 dpi output across diverse packaging materials, Videojet reinforces the role of thermal inkjet technology as a highly adaptable solution for modern production environments.
