Gallus has successfully deployed the first Gallus One hybrid digital press in the United Arab Emirates, installed at Dubai-based label converter Radiant House. The investment marks a definitive shift for the manufacturer, transitioning its production floor from a traditional flexographic model to a high-speed digital operation optimized for the region's growing demand for low-volume orders.

The label market's structural shift toward shorter runs—specifically in the 2,000 to 3,000 label range—has historically squeezed margins for conventional operators. Radiant House faced this exact bottleneck, struggling to maintain profitability on short-run flexo jobs due to extended setup times, plate costs, and material waste. The integration of the Gallus One directly addresses this operational friction by changing the cost equation of short-to-medium runs.

The hybrid configuration installed in Dubai integrates a digital inkjet printing unit with conventional flexo, semi-rotary die-cutting, cold foiling, lamination, and varnishing. By consolidating these processes into a single pass, the press eliminates the need for separate equipment transfers and offline finishing. The system processes self-adhesive labels across standard industry substrates, including paper, polypropylene (PP), and polyethylene (PE).

The operational impact on the converter's throughput has been immediate. Radiant House recently reported completing 55 distinct label jobs within a single 12-hour shift, a volume of changeovers that would be economically unviable on a purely conventional press. Sayed Shamsuddin, Managing Director of Radiant House, and Biju George of Heidelberg Gulf oversaw the integration, which allows the company to produce two to three times more short-run jobs compared to its previous workflow.

This installation highlights a broader regional trend in the Middle East packaging sector. Converters are increasingly moving beyond using digital technology merely as a proofing or prototyping tool, deploying hybrid architectures as the primary engine for commercial production. By bridging the gap between digital agility and inline converting, equipment manufacturers like Gallus are providing the necessary tools to secure profitability in a fragmented label market.
