Etilisa expands embellishment capacity with an eighth 430-millimeter ABG Digicon line
Spanish converter Etilisa has installed its eighth ABG Digicon finishing line, featuring a 430mm web width and a 50-tonne hot foil unit, at its new La Rioja plant.
Premium label production scales up in La Rioja
Spanish label converter Etilisa has integrated its eighth ABG Digicon finishing system, marking a significant capacity increase following its relocation to a new 5,500-square-meter production facility in Arnedo, La Rioja. The new line, which entered full production in September 2026, is specifically configured to handle larger volumes of premium label orders, a core segment for the company since its integration into the Labelys group.
The technical specifications of the new installation reflect a clear push toward high-end embellishment and operational efficiency. Operating at a 430mm web width and a 420mm finishing width, the system allows Etilisa to process more labels across the web. The configuration includes a one-meter-diameter unwind, corona treatment, web guiding, and a 50-tonne Big Foot hot foil and embossing unit. Additionally, it integrates flexographic printing, screen printing, lamination, and die-cutting capabilities in a single pass.
Strategic expansion in the La Maja business park
This machinery investment is the operational culmination of Etilisa's recent industrial expansion. The company moved its operations to the La Maja business park in late 2025, a project that required an investment of approximately 2.5 to 3 million euros. The facility, officially inaugurated in April 2026, sits on a 15,000-square-meter plot and was designed to accommodate advanced technology and an expanded workforce.
By standardizing its finishing department with A B Graphic International (ABG) equipment—now operating a mix of Series 2 and Series 3 machines—Etilisa maintains consistency in its output, particularly for the demanding wine label market. The wider 430mm format of the new Digicon directly addresses the bottleneck of high-volume premium orders, allowing the converter to maintain its quality standards while improving overall plant throughput.
