Unified technology ecosystem transforms corrugated converting

Jamil Packaging, a family-owned corrugated converter operating in Tennessee and Indiana, has reported efficiency gains of up to 50% following a strategic decision to standardize its converting operations on BOBST technology. The development highlights a growing industrial trend where converters move away from mixed-vendor floors to unified technological ecosystems to streamline production, operator training, and maintenance.

The company's production floor now operates almost entirely as a BOBST house. The current machinery lineup covers the complete converting spectrum, featuring a DRO GT two-color press, FFG 924 and FFG 1232 flexo folder-gluers, and a VISIONCUT flatbed die-cutter. For folding and gluing, the converter relies on two EXPERTFOLD 165 and two EXPERTFOLD 300 models, complemented by an EXPERTDRO equipped with inside and outside printing capabilities.

Operational impact and capacity expansion

By consolidating printing, die-cutting, folding, and gluing onto a single platform, Jamil Packaging has fundamentally altered its operational dynamics. The reported 50% efficiency increase in specific operations is directly tied to the interoperability of the equipment and the standardization of operator workflows. When operators are familiar with a unified interface and mechanical logic across different machine centers, cross-training becomes highly effective, and troubleshooting is significantly accelerated.

Beyond raw speed, this unified approach has allowed the converter to drastically reduce its production backlog and free up available capacity. In the highly competitive US corrugated market, this newly unlocked capacity enables Jamil Packaging to take on more complex, higher-margin jobs that require sophisticated folding, gluing, or dual-sided printing, without disrupting standard high-volume runs. The strategy demonstrates that for mid-sized independent converters, deep integration with a single primary equipment manufacturer can be a decisive lever for scaling operations and maintaining agility.
