Axigo Multiprint accelerates label finishing with new Rhyguan Smart-450 installation

Upgrading quality control in the Indian label market

Ahmedabad-based label converter Axigo Multiprint has significantly upgraded its post-press operations with the installation of a Rhyguan Smart-450 slitter-rewinder. Supplied and commissioned by Flexo Image Graphics (FIG), the new equipment integrates a Luster inspection camera to automate quality assurance in high-volume label production.

In a highly competitive Indian converting sector, the margin for error in premium packaging is shrinking. Brand owners increasingly demand zero-defect deliveries, making inline inspection systems a mandatory requirement rather than an optional upgrade. Axigo Multiprint, which specializes in end-to-end label printing including standard self-adhesive labels, PVC shrink sleeves, and in-mold labels (IML), has tailored this investment to meet those exact market pressures.

Technical capabilities driving production efficiency

The Rhyguan Smart-450 is engineered to handle a web width of 450mm, supporting high-speed slitting and re-inspection at speeds of up to 300 meters per minute. For a converter dealing with diverse substrates, web handling is critical. The machine features independently adjustable web tension for both the unwinding and rewinding units.

This independent tension control is particularly vital for Axigo's portfolio. Materials like PVC shrink films are highly sensitive to tension variations, which can cause distortion or registration issues during the finishing process. Precise web control ensures that these extensible substrates are processed smoothly without compromising the structural integrity of the final roll.

Nirmal Patel, founder of Axigo Multiprint, confirmed that while the company has maintained a long-standing industry relationship with Flexo Image Graphics, the Rhyguan Smart-450 marks the first physical machine installation supplied by the distributor to their Ahmedabad facility.

The integration of the Luster inspection camera directly into the slitting and rewinding workflow allows Axigo to identify and isolate print defects in real-time. By catching registration errors, color variations, or substrate blemishes before the rolls are shipped, the converter protects its margins from costly reprints and strengthens its position as a reliable supplier for demanding consumer brands.
