As we navigate the second half of 2026, the global corrugated packaging sector is rapidly shifting from aspirational sustainability goals to verifiable, industrial-scale circularity. In this context, Trupal, the packaging arm of Grupo Gloria, has confirmed its participation as an Impact Sponsor at the upcoming Cumbre Perú Sostenible 2026, scheduled for September 24 to 26 at the Parque de Exposiciones de Magdalena in Lima.

A framework built on operational reality

The Peruvian corrugated manufacturer will use the summit to detail its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy, structured around three core pillars: environmental commitment, purpose-driven well-being, and growth with integrity. For industry analysts, the significance of this presentation lies not in the framework itself, but in the operational data backing it up.

In 2025, Trupal achieved a milestone that many regional players are still striving for: 94% of its raw material was sourced from recycled fiber. This required the recovery of over 95,900 tons of material through a consolidated network of approximately 150 formal suppliers nationwide. By presenting these figures at a major national forum, Trupal is demonstrating that high-volume circular economy models are fully viable in the Latin American paper and board market.

Strategic alignment with global export demands

The timing of this strategic showcase is highly relevant for the packaging supply chain. With the European Union strictly enforcing mandates for 100% recyclable packaging by 2030, and global retailers tightening their procurement criteria, Latin American agro-exporters need packaging partners that can guarantee compliance. Trupal's portfolio of international certifications—including FSC, BRCGS, SQF, BASC, SMETA, and OEA—serves as a critical passport for these export markets.

Furthermore, the company is currently in the process of securing its second star from the Peruvian Ministry of the Environment (MINAM) for its carbon footprint management. This technical validation is becoming a standard requirement for Tier 1 suppliers in the global packaging ecosystem.

Governance and social integration

Beyond environmental metrics, Trupal's presentation at the summit will highlight its structural changes. The recent formation of its first Sustainability Committee, integrating all management levels, ensures that the 2025–2027 Sustainability Plan is executed as a core business objective rather than a peripheral initiative. Socially, programs like "Creciendo con Trupal," developed in alliance with Recicla Latam, are formalizing the base recycling sector, securing the company's supply chain while providing technical and financial support to local communities.

Trupal's move to formalize and publicly present its ESG strategy at the board level proves that sustainability is now a non-negotiable operational metric in the Latin American packaging industry. Will global retailers soon mandate this exact level of traceability and social integration from all their regional corrugated suppliers?
