SUN Automation expands corrugated line coverage ahead of Fort Worth summit

SUN Automation Group shifts its strategy to full-line corrugated support and preventive maintenance ahead of Corrugated Week 2026 in Fort Worth.

As the corrugated industry prepares for Corrugated Week 2026 in Fort Worth this September, SUN Automation Group is shifting its market approach. The company is transitioning from its traditional role as a supplier of isolated machinery components to a comprehensive provider of full-line corrugated production support. This strategic pivot, marketed under the banner "More of the Line. More Support Behind It," reflects a growing demand from box plants for unified equipment accountability.

Moving beyond single-machine solutions

The new framework encompasses a broader spectrum of the converting process, integrating rotary die cutting, flexo folder gluers, and advanced feeding systems. Rather than leaving converters to piece together support for mixed-brand production floors, SUN is leveraging its partnerships to offer umbrella coverage. This includes direct service integration for partner equipment from LMC, PARA, and KOLBUS.

Recent operational moves in July 2026 underscore this transition. SUN recently aligned its Hycorr PartsSupport directly with Kolbus America to streamline customer service. Simultaneously, the company highlighted its role in Welch Packaging's recent production records, which were achieved using a Latitude Machinery (LMC) Mini Line backed entirely by SUN's technical service infrastructure.

Addressing the maintenance knowledge gap

The underlying driver for this expanded offering is the severe technical skills shortage facing the global packaging sector. As veteran maintenance crews retire, plants are losing decades of troubleshooting experience. SUN is positioning its PERFORM+ (Preventive Equipment Reliability & Optimization Maintenance) program as a direct countermeasure. By offering quarterly, manufacturer-led preventive maintenance across multiple machine brands, the company aims to stabilize uptime for plants struggling with internal technical turnover.

The move toward full-line accountability is exactly what box plants need as they struggle with operator turnover and complex machine integration. Will other equipment manufacturers follow this holistic support model or remain focused on isolated hardware sales?
