The machinery of the European corrugated board industry already has its next major technical gathering on the horizon. The European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers (FEFCO) has officially added the 2027 Technical Seminar to its calendar, scheduled to take place from October 27 to 29 next year.

Under the theme “Engineered to Perform: The Future of Corrugated Excellence”, the organization aims to bring together specialists from across the value chain at a time when the pressure to optimize operating margins and reduce carbon footprints is defining capital equipment investments.

Europe's leading technical forum

The FEFCO Technical Seminar has historically established itself as the primary hands-on forum for sector innovation. Following the conclusion of the 2025 cycle, the 2027 edition will focus on the immediate technical challenges facing converters and machinery manufacturers.

As detailed by the association, the technical agenda will pivot on critical axes for plant profitability:

  • Implementation of advanced technologies and automation.
  • Energy efficiency in corrugating and converting processes.
  • Sustainability and adaptation to European circularity regulations.
  • Production performance and inline quality control.
  • Operational safety on the plant floor.

The weight of an industry in transition

The context in which this meeting will take place is significant. The European corrugated board industry annually produces over 52 billion square meters of material across a network of approximately 590 plants, employing nearly 100,000 professionals. Maintaining the competitiveness of this infrastructure requires constant technological upgrading.

The 2027 Technical Seminar will act as the catalyst where machinery suppliers, software developers, and corrugated board manufacturers will exchange data and solutions. The excellence referenced in the event's motto is no longer understood solely as the mechanical strength of the box, but as the ability to produce it with the lowest energy consumption and the highest possible traceability.
