Great Northern Corporation

Great Northern Corporation is a privately held packaging and merchandising manufacturer headquartered in Appleton, Wisconsin. Founded in 1962 as Great Northern Container, the group operates through five brands: Great Northern Packaging, Great Northern Instore, Great Northern Laminations, Great Northern Fiber Interior Packaging and Great Northern Rollguard. Its portfolio includes corrugated shipping containers, printed consumer packaging, folding cartons, bag-in-box outer cartons, shelf-ready packaging, e-commerce packaging and temporary or permanent retail displays. Protective solutions include laminated-paperboard edge and corner protectors, molded-fiber inserts, honeycomb material and recycled-fiber roll cradles for cylindrical products. Some protective systems also use foam, plastic or wood according to the application. The corporate directory lists twelve locations across eight US states, including packaging and display manufacturing, five Laminations facilities and a sales, design and engineering office in Swedesboro, New Jersey. Appleton combines the corporate headquarters with corrugated packaging manufacturing and ISTA package-testing facilities. Services span structural and graphic design, prototyping, print production, transit testing, fulfillment, inventory management and distribution.
